Royal Canadian Legion
Branch 52 Kamloops BC
It is with regret that after 75 years of service the Ladies Auxiliary has been dissolved and has turned in the Charter. Members have been informed that they can transfer to another L.A. or join Branch 52 with their years of service intact.
Kamloops Legion, Branch 52, welcomes any former Ladies Auxiliary to join the Branch and continue to provide invaluable contributions to the operations.
History of the Kamloops Ladies Auxiliary
There has been a Ladies Auxiliary to the Kamloops Branch of the Legion since February 1939. Sixteen members constituted the first group, and in March of 1939, the Ladies Auxiliary received its Charter. The first LA President was Alice Whale.
During the War years, Meg King, a Charter member, met all the troop trains that came through Kamloops, no matter what time of day, passing out cigarettes to the troops heading overseas.
Over the years, the LA have been active in the Legion, doing many events, and still today, does a lot of the catering for Branch functions.
As of February 2012, there were approximately 54 members, with 8 of those members being Life Members.
Unfortunately, in December 2012, the Ladies Auxiliary dissolved and turned in their Charter.
